Overview

The Benin National museum was founded on the 10th of August 1973. It is situated in Ring Road Roundabout, Oka, Benin City. The historical centre has note worthy numbers of antiquities identified with the Benin Empire. The museum is regarded as one of the richest national museum in the country, in respect to the historical affiliations to not just the ancient Benin empire but the surrounding ancients cities. You are not allowed to come in with your cameras because tourists have taken pictures of the artifacts and try to duplicate them in the past. But you are allowed to soak in the beauty of the culture of the Edo citizens which they imputed in their arts and craft by exploring artifacts that not only holds beauty but thousands of untold stories. The museum is opened to anyone and has been a tourist attraction site for many years
