The National Museum, Calabar was once a British governor’s house. This museum is situated in Calabar, cross river state. It is an embodiment of historical facts as it boasts of housing important papers and documents in line with the colonial era. Also, it presents fascinating artifacts that dates back to the time of the slave trade and barter system era which is in correlation to the the time when Calabar was the seat of power of the Efik kingdom. Exploring further to the upper path of the museum, you will be presented a sight of the furnishings that the Europeans made use of during the slave trade and colonial period. Also, you can explore constitutions in their original documents as used then in a large library placed here.

Though there are a lot of things to explore in this museum but it’s only accessible from the hours of 9:00am and 6:00pm. Whereby tourists are charged 100naira to access this museum and also, a tour guide is assigned to make the exploration much more enjoyable and easier. It is worthy of note that there are no form of camera accepted inside this museum.
