Okomu National Park, formerly known as Okomu Wildlife Reserve, is the home to endangered species in Nigeria.The park is about 60 km north west of Benin City.The park holds a small fragment of the rich forest that once covered the region, and is the last habitat for many endangered species.Despite being the smallest national park in Nigeria, Okomu offers unique experiences in nature that cannot be gotten elsewhere. The park is opened to all 24 hrs everyday of the week. Things to take with you on the tour: Petty cash, sun glasses, drinking water, comfortable hiking shoes, your overnight kit and a safari kit. At Okomu, different animal species can be found such as African forest elephant, African Buffalo, Chimpanzees, Dwarf crocodiles, Mona monkey. Over 150 species of birds like grey hornbill, fish eagle, Angolan putta, can also be found at the park.
